Track & Field Club Championships Ahead! (28th, 29th, 30th July)

It seems that the medal count, a common practice in all individual championships worldwide, has ignited the ire of certain persons. Transparency and performance measurement are always avoided by underachievers, while every sensible person knows that they are the key to progress in any field.

In fact, all those who criticized newspapers articles following the Individual Championships were laughed at by the journalists. Some individuals who are supposedly responsible in the Lebanese world of sports found it odd that journalists analysed the Individual Championships. Are we going back to the Tass agency model of the Soviet era? It is not funny anymore.  Such a degree of ignorance, inefficiency and inability to understand the dynamics of communication and its relationship with progress is simply shocking.

A few members of the LAF living in a state of ongoing paranoia look at Inter-Lebanon as the ultimate enemy! In the eyes of these 3 or 4 persons, Inter-Lebanon is this juggernaut club which is going to expose them by showing how inefficient they really are. They are probably right.

As an ultimate desperate move, they are trying to use whatever their short-term authority allows. They have reshuffled and redesigned the points system against all common sense and logic in a frantic attempt to minimize the gap between Inter-Lebanon and other clubs.  They also refused Inter-Lebanon a redistribution of athletes per discipline, although this was requested on July 26th, 2011 prior to the deadline. But the most shocking issue is undeniably the mandating of all technical matters and refereeing issues to the coach of a competing team; thus ignoring the basic principle of conflict of interest and inherent subjectivity.

They are acting exactly like some neighboring dictators have been for the past 40 years. Who said that the Arab spring will not leak into to the world of sports in Lebanon?

Inter-Lebanon will win the Club Championships despite their hysterical and desperate illegitimate abuse of power……. and for the good of track & field, change is coming!
