Great Performances, but No New Records on the 2nd Day of the Club Championships

Early morning on July 29th, Inter and Army throwers equally shared the 18 points gained on the Hadeth field. Taleb el Hassan, Janet Said (both in the javelin), and Layla Karhani (shot put) threw and led, while Abdallah Shaheen made 3rd in the shot put behind Badri Obeid and Mohamad Khatib (both Army).

Janet was only 41cm from the national record. Her team mates Mohamad Hamed (shot put), Ayman Akash (javelin) and Fatima Dandan (shot put) missed the qualifying mark (minima) by a very few centimeters each.

In the afternoon of this 2nd day, the Jamhour track witnessed more enthusiastic competition between athletes of the 9 clubs (out of the 18 official clubs).

Mhammad Hannouf and Saria Traboulsi ran PBs in the 800m (1.58.87 and 2.19 respectively). Sarah Joe Kortbawi (Champville) also ran a PB in the same distance.

Mustapha Barakat won the 200m for the first time and Abed Berjawi jumped a PB of 1.98m, becoming the second best Lebanese jumper of all time, behind his trainer Jean-Claude Rabbath.

Krystel Saneh (Champville) dominated the triple jump. Inter girls Jana Majed and Nathalie Sevadjian made 3rd and 4th behind Miss Khoury from Maristes Jbeil.

Hoda el Awadi won 2 points for Ansar, showing a lot of courage over the 3000SC since she ran alone. In the same discipline the Army led 1st and 2nd and Ahmad Ghalied from Ansar arrived 3rd.
