ISF International Half Marathon, Wissam Eid - Report

ISF International Half-Marathon – Wissam Eid , 5th edition

Reading the dozens of email received from participants,it seems that you all enjoyed the ISF half-marathon - Wissam Eid, ran on February 26, 2012 by 400 runners with over 300 finishers.
After 2 months of quasi uninterrupted bad weather, the sky and sun were generous that day with blue and warmth.

This race, the 5th edition of its kind, is becoming slowly but surely a Lebanese classical road race.
Hussein Awada (Army) and Hamid Belhaj (Inter-Lebanon) shared 1st place on the men's ranking with a modest time of 1h10m16s. They were followed by Omar Issa and Mohamad el Ajami both from the Lebanese Army.

On the women's side Elga Trad (ERC) took a sweet revenge over Marie el Amm and crossed the finish line first with nearly 2 minutes ahead of Marie who surpassed Elga by less than 1 minute in November 2011 at the 9th edition of the BLOM Beirut Marathon. In the absence of Pia Nehme, Nesrine Njeim and Sonia Hanna the fight for first place opposing Elga to Marie was predictable. Elga has been running PBs since November 2011 and can improve further.

Both masters/mothers seem not ready to give up the challenge of road racing.
Hopefully the 6th edition will be electrically timed through a personal chip. Until then, think big and keep running…
