Clubs’ Championship 2010 – Day 3 (August 7th)
It’s over! Inter-Lebanon won the 2010 women’s clubs’ championship by a huge margin and, as expected, was a solid challenge to the Army team on the men’s side. Congratulations to all. |

On the 3rd day of the championship, Melissa Rizk again conceded first place to Hoda el Awadeh (Ansar) on the painful 10K walk, while Pascale Ingea was disqualified in the same event. Layla Karhani won the discus competition; Maria Pia Nehme and Marie el Amm did it again in the 10000m grabbing 1st and 2nd places respectively. Alic Tabakian and Sarah Traboulsi came 2nd and 3rd in high jump. Duplicating the victory of the day before in the 4x400, Gretta Taslakian, Sandra Najem, Alic Tabakian and Diala el Khazen had an easy and spectacular win in the 4x100m relay (more about this later).
In the highly competitive long jump competition, Ali Saleh made 4th with a 6.40 jump, while Alaa Itani, our 15 year old new acquisition, had a promising jump in excess of 5.80. A.B. Shaheen brought 4 points to the club on the discus competition with a well deserved 3rd place, and Mohamad al-Darkouchi did the same in 5000m. Inter-Lebanon lined-up Khalil Obeid, Ali Saleh, Alaa Itani and Jean-Claude Rabbath for the 4x100m relay and arrived 2nd after the Army team by a fraction of a second, outclassing Jamhour and the other 4 teams.
Unfortunately, the same losers who diligently joined forces to spoil the first ever national team training camp one year ago, conspired ephemerally and against all refereeing rules, using their position in the LAF to influence referees and twist their arms in order to disqualify our 4x100m women’s relay team. This issue will be followed up very diligently by our club, since the referee “who decided” to disqualify 30 minutes after the race had 30 minutes earlier confirmed that the stick transition between Gretta Taslakian and Sandra Najem was flawless. We understand the frustration of the persons who terrorized the poor referee; both of them do not have one single senior national record in their capacity of coaches; and in more general terms we also understand the resilience of mediocrity.
Our consolation is that even the runners of the other teams who were competing against our “winning” relay team realized that they were totally outclassed, and they know deep inside that whatever the ultimate decision regarding this relay, the Inter-Lebanon team totally conquered the track & field events at College Notre Dame de Jamhour in mid-July and 5, 6 & 7 August, 2010, especially in the women’s relay. Fake last minute victories fabricated by nerdy losers will not change the reality and above all are totally stripped of value and….honor.

RRA Rocks!
Paulo Coelho once said:Be the best, but get prepared to be attacked. Only mediocrity is safe.
So, we are being attacked only because we're the best :))
Congrats to the Club and to all amazing Athletes :))
