For the second consecutive year, RRA, in collaboration with Al Aamal Sporting Club of Bickfaya, organized the Bickfaya Flowers Race.

On Sunday, 21 June 2009, in relatively hot weather and at an altitude of 900 meters, around 100 runners laboured on the various challenging hills of the 7K course along the beautiful tree-lined Bickfaya High Street. The difficulty of the course made runners forget about timing as they concentrated their efforts. It was a great training exercise!

The unbeatable Hussein Awadah from the Lebanese Army was first from the men, while the women’s winner Marie el Amm crossed the finish line just 23 seconds before Melissa Rizk, RRA’s latest acquisition.

The noteworthy stories of this race were:

• 3 generations of the Tamim family running together and the senior Tamim crossing the finish line before the younger ones!
• Didi Sabbagh’s come back “terminator style” with a very slim figure
• and last but not least, Barbara Aghajanian happy to run again after recovering from an injury.
